Limited-attenuation filters and crossover networks

Not every filter should cut a signal away completely. Adding one resistor makes an R-C filter level off at a fixed attenuation, a shape used for tone controls and equalisers, and simple first-order filters also steer bass and treble to the right loudspeakers.
