Biotechnology
Biotechnology is the use of living systems as tools - and since 1953, when DNA's structure revealed how to read and rewrite it, the tools have become astonishing: bacteria that brew human insulin, gels that sort genes by size, viruses that deliver corrected genes, and one famous sheep cloned from a mammary cell.
