Meter design and grounding

With series and parallel circuits mastered, you can design an ammeter, a voltmeter and an ohmmeter from one small meter movement. The same reasoning explains grounding: why a ground reference matters, how a test lead can short out a circuit, and how a ground wire makes an appliance safe.
