Superposition (ac)
A linear network with several sources responds to all of them at once exactly as the sum of its responses to each one alone. In ac work that idea does double duty: it splits a problem with several sources, and it is the only correct way to handle sources at different frequencies, including a dc bias with an ac signal on top.
