Regulation after transcription
A finished transcript is not a finished decision. Eukaryotic cells keep regulating after the RNA is made - choosing which protein a gene yields, how long the message survives, whether it gets translated at all, and how long the protein persists - giving one gene many outputs and one stimulus many rapid responses.
